Citronella Spray Collars

If you have a dog that you are having trouble training and you need a little help then you might want to look into a citronella collar as a training aid.  It has been found that a citronella collar is a very effective training aid with most dog breeds.  The idea of the citronella spray collar came from shock collars but instead of shocking your pet, it shoots a fine mist of citronella.  The fog of citronella deters the dog from doing the unwanted behavior because all dogs hate the smell of citronella.  Some behaviors that can be addressed with a citronella collar are barking, digging, or staying within a certain boundary. 

All of the aforementioned troubles are common among dogs and their owners.  Without the correct tools these problems can be hard to correct and can lead to a distressed owner which generally leads to an unhappy dog.  The beauty of the citronella collar is that it is totally safe and harmless to your pet and is just as effective in most cases as a shock collar.  There are several different types of citronella collars that you can purchase.  Some are aimed at one particular problem and some are all around use collars.

You can get a citronella spray collar that will train your dog not to bark.  What happens is that the collar automatically sprays a fog of citronella when the dog starts to bark.  There is a sensor in the collar that can be set to a certain sensitivity so that the dog is not being sprayed for minor sounds that they make or come from the environment around them. 

The all around collars do the same thing but they can be used for any behavior problems you are having.  The difference is that you have a remote control that allows you to decide when you want to spray the citronella.  You push the button on the remote and the collar sprays the citronella. 

The last type of collar will train your dog to stay within a certain boundary.  You outline the area where you want the dog to stay with wire that is provided in the kit.  The wire is hooked to a transmitter, which is also provided.  When the dog comes too close to the boundary wire an audible warning is given if the dog ignores the audible warning then the collar will spray the citronella.  After awhile the dog will turn away at the audible warning so that they are not sprayed.

A citronella spray collar is a great option for dog owners that prefer not to use a shock collar or that have a timid or shy dog. The citronella spray collars are effective, while providing a gentle and humane way to correct your dog.
